A Little over your budget but Garmin 7410xsv, GT51TM transducer and G2 Vision card. Very powerful and capable setup.
G'day folks - posted a couple of weeks ago and received excellent advice on potential replacement options for my GPS. well the verdict was handed down on Friday - dead and buried! No chance of retrieving any of the marks Lessen for young players - back your stuff up.
Anyway the reality is I now actually have to purchase a replacement. I have looked at single units, combos, large and small, discontinued stock etc and man there are some fantastic pieces of kit out there.
My list includes Garmin GPSMap 95, Garmin 1020xs, twin GPSMap 75s.
Having said that I like the look of the 3d imagery(need all the help I can get), and love the simplicity of the garmin gear.
Budget $3k, offshore 15-60m, with a hammer and swearing I could get a 10in screen to fit.
So that's the scenario I now have - if you offered an opinion last time please don't feel you have to repeat yourself - all responses were taken on board and greatly appreciated.
Back to research
Cheers,
Troy

3k is a healthy budget. a 1020xs "older model for sure" with either a b75 or keep it down to a tm150" is a good combo with change to spare. paired with a gcv10.
or as gary suggest. go the newer 74xx series with the gt transducers
I use a old ipad 2 with Navionics
Mounted in a lifeproof case and mounted with a Ram mount.
Best i have used
ipad wasnt being used and the navionics app cost $99 - case $82 - mount was $85
10 in screen that is incredibly easy to use and has amazing detail with sonarview.
I used it to go from Mooloolaba to Urangan the other day - it planned my route (excepting the wide bay bar bit)
This in conjunction with the stand alone 587 will keep me happy for quite a while
2016-01-29 06.14.04.jpgExtremely easy to create save and adjust waypoints and routes. Point and click
Ipad needs to be 3 or 4G of course
So much better than Garmin Bluecharts, which i have now stopped using
