FRUSTRATED
I have a 2000 model Seafare V-Sea that has and I believe factory installed fish-finder and thru hull transducer.
The picture shows a thru hull transducer fitted to an old x65 lowrance unit.
I am replacing the x-65 with a Garmin 75dv
I was considering the Garmin (Airmar) B117 thru hull transducer, BUT the surface where the transducer currently sits is somewhere between 10 & 15 mm to short to accommodate the outer flange of the B117, which is 75mm.
Does anyone know if you can still get thru hull transducer similar to what I have (see below picture) that I would describe as flush or recessed.
If not any suggestions on the outer flange of the B117.
What are your thoughts on filing a few mm of each side of the outer flange (not disturbing the actual transducer face) to make it fit snug and reducing any potential drag or disturbance.
I have spoken to Garmin support about doing this and although they say it should be okay, they will not commit themselves.
I tried to find a number for Airmar support in Australia but can't seem to find one, only an American number. I wanted to talk directly to them and see what they thought/suggested.
Sorry if you don't understand what I am trying to say, but feel free to ask questions,
Information and suggestions appreciated.
