Moose, can you plug a GT51 transducer into the 95sv to get 600w chirp down and chirp side?
Cheers
Craig
I'm plenty happy with the 95v in the bay but have only been in 18-20m water but side scan looks fine to my untrained eyes
Tight lines & screamin' reels!
Update. Got back from work yesterday morning and went shopping.
Ended up with a 95SV.
Bang for your buck, at $1399, nothing else came close.
Happy so far.
Sorry to butt in. I'm under the impression as it's pointless to do, unless to improve the Wattage of the traditional (600W vs. 500W) and an improved down/sidevu frequency return for deeper water applications - (260/400kHz vs. 455/800kHz). The CHIRP side of things is the unit itself having the processor for transmitting/receiving this information in which the EchoMAP series lack - only the GPSMAP (74xx) are capable. So whilst you can plug a GT51-TM into the unit, is it really worth the $749 for it. I don't believe so. But I may be missing something.
I own the 75SV by the way and have played around with it endlessly to produce an extremely crisp image. The only limitation I've encountered is Sidevu only transmits in 45k5Hz and wish it ran 800kHz for the very shallow water weed bed application.
Here's one of my favorite sidevu sounder shots and a snapshot on how I've configured it.
Nice images all the same Specialkeen...............There is now a 95/75/55sv Chirp version of these which does run 800hz in side image

Yeah ones a echoMap Chirp 95sv the other just echoMap..........Have a look on the Garmin Aus website and compare both models.........They can also use Panoptix gear aswell and have some sort of NMEA2k compatabilty........I'm going to call them Monday for some more info as it seems they have just been released and i'd say they are going to superseed the non chirp models that's why they have been in run out prices at a guess.

There is still no release date on the echomap chirp series running the new 52hw transducers. still listed as q1 . id be saying mid to late feb at best.
no you cant run the gt51 or gt50 series transducers on echomaps
the new chirp series echomaps will run the new 250w high frequency wide beam Chirp side and downview GT52..
the unit is capped at 500w. so the GT51 is out.
the deeper working gt50 with 300w medium is an option
Whitworths are advertising them for $1939,,,,,,,,,,they must have them in stock.
