    Trim Hydraulic Oil

    Hey Lads,

So doing some maintenance on the boat etc, and when checking the fluid in my Trim Pump Reservoir I noticed it was a weird colour. Is this normal - See pic??

yeah - I did think thank, although it doesn't feel like it has water in it. Normally it gets sticky with water. But will drain it to be sure.

Question - How do I get all the oil out - given that there will be some in the lines etc. Is there a procedure?

What engine ?? Best thing I have ever done with my motors is grab a factory service manual. Usually outline this sort of stuff in basic steps so apprentices can follow it.

They only hold a small amount of oil, just change it, operate the trim up and down a few times, and change it again, repeat untill oil is clean.

It's a Merc 3L. Need to see if there is a drain plug etc to get the old oil out. That's the only thing that sucks, it's such a tight space under that hood! LOL!

So I have the service manual now and have had a good look around and I may have a dodgy seal on the left hand side ram. So will need to sort that out. There's always something eh!!

There's a procedure for bleeding the lines buy I'm always worried about buggering the connection point to the sliders and then I'm in a world of hurt. Lol.
