Is there any rings machined into the prop shaft??

The prop is a LH prop (wrong), that's why it is going backwards! Gearbox sounds like a normal RH box, so of course the prop will be going backwards.

Who swapped the prop on you? Suzuki dealer??

Edit: Oops that pic is not your prop, sorry. Should read everything properly and not skim thru . Is your prop actually a RH rotation mmouse?

no ring is a right hand rotation G/Box, something has been stuffed up. The gearbox will not last running fulltime in reverse they are not designed to do that.

Yeah prop is definitely a right handed it came off the 200 mariner I had on the boat before. 100% right hand. I've driven twin screw boats for years and know a left hand prop from a right hand prop

Just updating, took it back to the mechanic and had the selector removed and installed correctly this time. Prop goes the right way now!😊
