    Will pay for transducer

I've got a sounder/GPS with a 9" screen, and the transducer has buggered up. Does anyone have an old P66 ducer they don't want?
Probably not worth the cost of a new one but if there's an old one hanging around I could either use it as a backup or sell it on. GPS still works, currently I've got it hanging around just in case I'm out and need a second one.
Of course willing to part with some coin for it.
    Anyone?

Odes, it's a standard horizon, so I'd have to take a photo to see what connection it has. Thanks mate, I'll get back to you

Ive got a used P66 it has the Lowrance blue connector. Worked fine when i took it off, which was because i upgraded to a CHIRP sonar. Bracket for transom is a bit dodgy but sure it can be made to do the job. $30 will take it off my hands, plus postage if you cant collect it.
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

You can use any 50/200 khz transducer. This one Moonlighter has would be perfect.
just get someone to cut your lead at about 1 metre short of the plug and either join it with a generic male female plug, or solder/ splice the wires onto the end of the new trannny cable.

Some of the C-Map based stuff needs its own transducer with the transducer ID component to function.

Please explain ? C-map is the GPS FUNCTION of the unit. How is that affected by a tranny?
pretty much all Transducers in the general 50/200 are made by Airmar? In the earlier stuff.

Unit along with quite a few other brands is made by C-Map (Lorenz, VDO, Seiwa and others) - anyone can ask C-Map to produce a C-Map based plotter under their own name. We looked into it some years ago - only got to order 10 000 units LOL. My Experience is primarily with Lorenz - which would not work with out the correct transducer as they required functional transducer ID - a feature designed and supplied by Airmar, so that the sounder module within the unit would recognize the transducer at all and start to work. I can't say specifically that the Standard Horizon is the same but would expect as such.

Not all manufacturers transducers have transducer ID in them ( the airmar trandsucer model number is only particular to frequency and shape) though and even if they did, the transducer ID is quite possibly programmed to the manufacturers own codes - not entirely sure on this but have had a similar situation trying to run a Furuno transducer on a Raymarine DSM for testing - both Airmar transducers but the module wouldn't recognize the Furuno unit.

Ah thanks for that Scottar, Odes and Moonlighter. Might just be easier to keep it as a spare GPS, though I have to dig it up and check the connection anyway. Thanks again.
