Back home - Had a couple of nibbles, one good bite and that was about it!.
Lost a paternoster on the main wreck, BUT didn't get the anchor stuck anywhere
Had a look around all the artificial reefs around there and there was very little activity.
Cool thing was that we were the only boat so could drift around / anchor up anywhere-
Had a quick fish around Green island and not much to be seen there either.
The trip out was a little choppy from Manly, but, the trip back was nice and smooth.
Met a couple of guys in a super tinnie at Manly retrieving at the same time - they got an eel and that was about it for them too.
This was the first trip with hydraulic steering which is super nice compared to cable.
Seems like the fish were in sleep mode too-.
A few weekends before ar Harries we caught a hammerhead shark, ~1.2m at a guess? and let it go - He ate a pilchard on a paternoster rig. 6/0 hooks I think? with 30lb mono on an overhead reel. My son was the "fishmaster" that day - a 50-60 cm trag jew, he was wrapped! - he used a floatlined squid.

Sounds like it was pretty hard work Seppo.
just a word of caution - if I read it right, you mentioned a trag Jew caught at Harries, 50-60cm long.
Its most unlikely to catch a trag in the Bay, especially one that big. More likely to be a juvenile mulloway, of which there are plenty around in the Bay at present. Be an idea to check the size limits of that species.
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

Good point! -- At the time I wasn't sure, but a bit of quick googling on the water I found the ID info regarding the tail fin being crescent shaped for Trag rather than convex for a mulloway-
This one was definitely crescent shaped, and reading into it more now - they are often misidentified!?!..
Can a Mulloway ever have a crescent shaped tail??

If it did I think you could be forgiven for the mix up.

Probably safest to assume that any jew caught in the Bay is a mulloway. As mentioned, I've never heard of Trag being caught inside the Bay.
The Trag have very bright yellow inside the mouth too, plus they look purple-ish in colour.
