Thread: Autopilot options.

    Autopilot options.

Well I was set on purchasing a new Garmin 7410 with a thought of adding an autopilot system down the track. I cant really justify the cost of the Garmin autopilot so does anyone know if something like the Lowrance autopilot system will work with the Garmin unit? I'm guessing things would not be that easy so my other options are to go for a Lowrance or Simrad GPS/Sounder combo. Any other suggestions?
    Cheers.

Raymarine matched with a Raymarine evo autopilot system. I have this setup and can't complain.

The Raymarine system from customer feedback seems to be a good bit of kit for the price. If you are set on the Garmin plotter, have a talk to the guys at Trymax at Capalaba and see if they can confirm that the two will talk to each other to do "goto" functions. They are agents for both brands. Certainly on paper it should work - it will require the pilot to have its own display though. If you were after a pilot to work without a display (via a MFD) you will need to stick with one brand.
