    Four Beacons 8/12/15

So with the wind they way it has been the past few weekends I thought why not a pre-work fish.

This has been my first year targeting Mackerel in the bay, so I stick to places that I guess every one knows channel markers and the like.

Left Cleveland boat ramp at 4:15 and was at Moreton for sunrise, the plan was a quick 1hr and a half fish just using slugs. Plenty on the sounder but wasn't getting much action (trying different colours and weights as well as retrieves along the way). Managed one Schoolie at 70cm which was a bit of fun on the light gear, then had to head back, pretty sure if I had called in sick I could have gone a lot better as the bite was coming on as I was leaving.

Got side tracked casting in to a big bait boil, so ended up been a little late. Nice morning though!

If any one has some likely areas that are not as far to travel it would be much appreciated.

Oh had about 1/3 of the fillets last night for dinner, over hot coals, fresh is best!

Did better than me. After an unexpected day off work I dropped the pots in around 1100 and went and checked the beacons out. Each one had a least of couple boats anchored. Flicked some slugs around and trolled lures between markers but no luck. NE came up around 1330. Checked out what the wrecks looked like since they got cut down and headed home. Saw one flock of birds hitting the water but surface action. Through a range of slugs in different sizes and trolled some deep diver lures but no luck. Picked the pots up and got three good sized sandies.
    Beat going to work

Was out there Monday. Got a couple off the beacons (slugs and jigging). Lost a few on livies (kept getting bitten off above the wire, or they missed the hooks). I need to revise my live bait rigs (no swivel at the end of the wire). No sign of bait or mackerel along the drop offs next to Morton.

Thanks for the report. Reports are few and far between these days.

Thanks guys, Weekends just don't want to play ball at the moment.... At least mid week is less busy, just wish I had more then a few hours before work to make the most of it!
