    heavydutyplateboats?

    Hi

In my search for a new plate boat I found these guys on the internet and was wondering if anyone has had experience with them? Looking for info / feedback on build and ride quality?

Past threads show an Adams marine up in Hervey bay but could not find much info on these guys.

    Cheers

They've been there a while and as far as I know are pretty good. have spoken to them the odd occasion and seem friendly and switched on.

thanks for the web page link man

probably the only thing I would say is the (well I'm not sure what its called) but lets call it the spray deflector thingo ... at the bow .. looks more like an after thought and possibly an indication of a wet boat ...?? .. maybe ... plus I'm not sure I would like to be the guy in the water you were trying to pick up lol ..

my platey has a 3deg reverse chine from bow to stern so yah definitely something you would have to go clap your eyes on and do a water test in before signing up man

    Re: heavydutyplateboats?

I would be very cautious buying one of these boats.
A mate has one that is about 2.5 years old and the hull is already stuffed.
The sub frame is badly designed which has caused the ribs to split the bottom sheet of the hull in several places.
The short video shows the water pouring out of the hull.
The 10 year warranty is a load of crap as they will not do anything about this.
The hull should be replaced as it is not fit for purpose and this company has done and said everything to try and void the warranty on this boat.
They also apparently have a 700 hour maximum warranty clause on their hulls which they do not tell anyone.
This hull failure comes after many others over the past 2.5 years including the center console tearing out of the floor.
It is the most unstable boat you will ever hop into and side on in a bit of a sea is extremely dangerous.
2 people on one side and it lays over, add a 3rd person and it feels like it is going to roll over.
It pounds badly and it is the wettest boat I have ever been in.
Be very careful and do your homework on these boats and what ever you do, get their full warranty conditions including any fine print on paper and signed by the manufacturer.

    Re: heavydutyplateboats?

Hey mate the hulls look like a pretty average design in my opinion, no reverse chine, no fine entry, and a shallow arse end, probably all been mentioned by others. I just had a platey built down at performance plate boats in Brendale, couldn't be happier. Do a search on here for plate boat builds. It will give you great insight into who's had what built and how the final product turned out. That's how I narrowed down who to talk to. I private messaged blokes on here about there builds and the where honest and gave me the feed back needed to make the decision. Also call the builder and ask for there old clients phone numbers so you can find out how they treat there customers, I called 5 blokes who had boats built and not one of them had a bad thing to say

    cheers Nick

    Re: heavydutyplateboats?

I've just seen this pics on the Facebook site. Doesn't look like common plate boat building practice to me. May well work, just not what I am used to seeing.
