Any rumours of Furuno 627/587 replacement?

Just curious if anybody has heard anything, seems a number of places have low quantities (if any) of these at the moment, wondering if their replacement is just around the corner....

Only found one whisper on the net, but no real details and can't confirm anything. Hoping someone in the know can share something.

    Thanks,
    Scott.

For the record. i found the appropriate TM260 transducer for $999 from marine deals.
Includes the bracket, this was about $300 less than the next best price.

I just had a quick look at their pricing on the 627 - they are way off the mark.

they tend to do that, but then drop them to a decent price on the deals. I love that site, but cross-checking is always worthwhile

I suspect there is a new model on the way (it's due) but with no info released as yet it could literally be months off arriving. Even when it is released they will stock other markets before they come here typically. As there is no info in the US even I would expect we won't see a replacement for at least 3 months if previous product releases are anything to go by.

I happened to visit my friendly expert at Tingalpa today.
Along with sorting my Lowrance issues with excellent service and price, he did confirm new Furuno models will be here within a few months.
Interestingly, his on the water testing found that the current model 587 performance was equal to the equivalent priced chirp stuff despite some small sonar separation difference.
    i.e chirp will display 3 arcs, 587 will display 1 or 2.

    Hope this helps.

    Thats good to hear.
Chirp and transducers are very confusing subjects.
I defaulted to a 587 and TM260 as blackboxes / chirp / networking / thru hull/ fairing blocks/ tilted elements were causing me to lose sleep.

If budget allowed i would have gone to a FCV 295 with B265

The new model being released very soon is the FCV-588
Rumours are it will cost around $500 more than the 587

    Hi Guys,

Please educate me, i am comparing the features of this Furuno unit with another brand name like Simrad EVo2, Garmin SXV, Lowrance Gen3, RayMarine A78 are all have better features. Advise me what I am missing out. Why fishos still buy this unit.

    Thanks

Furunos have a very strong reputation for reliability, are simple to use and it is easy to interpret what they display. I've got a LCX-112 lowrance alongside my Furuno 587. The lowrance has the broadband box and the Furuno has the base model 600w transom mount transducer. The Furuno is much nicer to use and gives a better picture than the Lowrance. I only use the Lowrance for GPS now.

If you can't get a 627/587, I would but that's a decision only you can make. Interesting though, I have done a few google searches since I first heard that a new series was possibly on the way, yesterday even, and all have returned nada - until today. Wonder if the cat was let out of the bag or it is just a coincidence??
