    New Motor

Convinced wife into buying a new motor for boat, 22ft coacraft pantera.
    Looking at 225 4 stroke.
Going to visit some shops soon.
I'm at Redcliffe, if there any dealer's that are good & bad out there ?
Can pm me in need be.
Apart from motor much else I should be asking,
Warranty ,fitting & so forth .
I do have a 1996 mariner 175 on it. What's best way to sell that, don't think I would get much of trade.
    Thanks.

Chat to Spaniard King ( Garry ) about a Honda. He has a crazy deal going at the moment on engines in that HP range right now.

Sell your Mariner privately, dealers don't want it. Go your max HP for your boat. Now it's time to talk business. Just screw all the dealerships down again and again until your happy, look for a the best service and warranty. Milk every thing out of them, free splash cover, stainless prop just to get started, it's your money.

yes it is your money but if you screw your dealer to much i would not see the after sale service as being good as they will have a beef knowing that you took most of there profit... remember your the one with the $$$$
but think about service after the purchase as well
happy days ahead summer is coming

Either that your after sales service will be great. But you will pay handsomely for it.

In that power range I would have gone with an ETEC gen2. Anything else is yeterdays technology. Not that they are bad engines, just insufficient compared. Auto trim, power steering, asthetics-you can mix and match colours, stronger gearbox, more torque.
Unless you get an offer too good to refuse!

    Re: New Motor

pffft Etec, I wouldn't touch one, you will never be able to sell your boat

    Sticking to 4 stroke,
Not fussed on Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki.

    Re: New Motor

After owning Honda's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's I would be sticking with Honda or Yamaha. Just my preference.

Meant to say not fussed on which brand I choose.
Can be either Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki.

Honda's 7 year warranty is very hard to go past. I think any of the major players outboards would serve a private buyer fine.
