Am I the only person who finds garmins website confusing?

My 4 year old raymarine a70d has thrown in the towel and no longer picks up satellites needless to say this is my first and last raymarine product.

Anyway I'm looking for a new chart plotter and local word is garmin is good. I went to their website and did some google searching and got completely lost. Seems like there is a garmin eachomap dv range then there is a eachomap 50s and then there is a gps map 451. I cannot work out what the difference is between them? I just want a chart plotter not interested in the depth sounding features can anyone help me work out the difference ? My raymarine has a navionics gold card can I use this on the garmin as this cost me a couple hundred bbucks and would rather keep it?

    Go to Garmin Australia website,
    choose Marine
    Choose Chartplotters,

I can see 11 products under GPSmap series depending on size,etc...

The other units you mentioned is combos including sonar.

Garmin uses its own mapping and units come with detailed maps installed already,
you can also purchase more detailed map option

Navionics wont work but you can easily sell it

Navionics don't work with Garmin. They have there own charting system called bluechart

You will most likely be sorting through the ecomap range to find something you like

Ok thanks that answers a few questions. So what would the differnce be between the gpsmap 451 and using the echo map 55dv as a plotter only? Or would it be a waste of money to buy the dv and only use it as a chartplotter. Iam a Caveman when it comes to electronics and technology I just need something that is reliable picks up satellites and works when I turn it on I don't need any fancy shit.

Also if I was to sell my navionics gold chart will all my marks be on that card or is there a way to delete the marks off the card before selling it?

    Thanks

Marks are not stored on a chart card unless you have saved them as a separate file. It is not something the machine does itself, nor is it recommended practice. It is best to store mark/track files on an independent card

451 is an obsolete model. 55dv has a much clearer screen. faster everything. better....everything.. a "back button" sounds mad but it makes a difference. can run all of garmins marine maps and then some.

for the price of units in that 4-5" range now days its just cheap to buy a happy little combo. even sans transducers in some cases and go from there

TBH! ... the lowrance elite units are.....somewhat easier to use if you want simple and basic.

and the raymarine dragonfly has a faster gps refresh rate "but suffers elsewhere"

garmin is the best built of those entry level ones. the 45dv ....not quite 5" but close is cheap and cheerful under 400 bucks with maps if you want without a transducer
