why is the Phoenix Advance still off Caloundra

I know of the conspiracy theory about the Phoenix Advance being a communications/surveillance vessel for the G20 summit but that has been and gone for quite sometime. I was out there last night and the vessel (and it is sitting on a nice piece of reef) is lit up like a Christmas tree and if conspiracies are right then all their gear is well camouflaged as tanker equipment, according to Qld TPT late last year it was awaiting new orders but it must be costing someone a bucket load of money. Does anyone know what is going on.

Triple it has been at anchor for many months now, it briefly left after G20 but returned soon after and has become a permanent fixture on the reef. It is also odd that the question hasn't been asked since.

Yes I know, she did leave briefly but it is almost 12 months, that's bloody expensive to keep a ship like that at anchor, was going to try for cobra around her, I figure that there must be a good population of them there but had enough fish on board.

I remember back during a strike at either Newcastle or port Kembla that is quoted at costing the ship owners $100000/week to have the coal ships anchored offshore waiting and that was over 20yrs ago.
Can't imagine it has gotten any cheaper

No pilot to take it out or in it might have a ban on it.

Oh well, we'll keep the conspiracy theory alive, Putin is coming back to take revenge on the koala that passed on him and the Phoenix Advance is a communication/surveillance vessel in disguise just waiting and watching out for him.

At the moment she is there as a floating storage tank. She pumps out product when required and product is pumped on board for storage. Jim
