Noosacat construction, foam filling and the floor.
Hey guys
Just asking anyone who owns or is in the know about noosacats and how there built.
Ive seen a couple pics online of the underfloor of a noosacat and it was hard to tell how it was built. But from what I gathered it had crossmembers going from one side to another across the top of the tunnel, then it looked like it was foam filled to even with the top of the crossmembers, then glassed straight ontop of the foam?
Can anyone tell me if its glass laid straight onto foam or is the a floor screwed down onto cross beams then glassed in?
And what sort of foam is used and is the tank foamed in to keep it in place ?
heres the pics im talking about. noosa cat.jpg noosacat 2.jpg
Re: Noosacat construction, foam filling and the floor.
that pic is MY boat being built... I do not have foam underfloor...could have but extra$$, usually only put in their commercial build boats...it has multiple sub-divisions water tight bulk heads
floor is attached directly to the cross beams...you an see in the second pic the colour showing through where bonded
I have earlier layout and other closer ones with some closer pics of tanks glassed in with supports so they cannot budge i will add for you
Re: Noosacat construction, foam filling and the floor.
Here are earlier construction pics...still in mold showing bulk head sub-divisions underfloor.. I can inspect visually 5 of the compartments and years on not a drop of water has entered confirming they water tight for now at least(as there has been proven many many times on many diff boats supposed water tight compartments are not at all)
Can see tanks are fully locked in place also...
Re: Noosacat construction, foam filling and the floor.
Thanks a lot for the pics, it cleared up what I was thinking. I'm doing up an old sharkcat and was wondering how to do thinks. Gee the noosa cats are an amazingly built boat.

Certainly very well made boats.
interested in what the cross over beams are made from? Are they hollow glass beams or a funky plastic/foam they glass over?
