Outboard Control Cables

I brought some new control cables.....

Didn't know how long they needed to be so i did some research on the net and all the big boys gave me the right way to measure up.

Even a workshop manual from OMC.......

Measure point A
Measure point B..... then add 4ft....HUH?.... why 4ft.....

Anyway..it all came to 15ft, so that's what i brought.

Pictured is my problem.....Its too long??????

I measured wrong..just went out and did the measure up again.... 13ft is what im after...not 15ft...
