The vhf antenna if it is the standard GME one that Seafarer used (3 foot tall with a round plastic base) came with the plug not fitted so the cable was most likely run in and then fitted off. If you do decide to take the plug off, there are two types that have regularly come with GME antennas - crimp ones (not reusable) and solder ones. The solder one can be de-soldered and then be unscrewed or you can cut the connector off and fit a new one - if you do cut it off though cut it right at the plug as GME antennas can't have there cables significantly shortened. If you do take the vhf plug off you should be able to pull the whole loom, conduit and all, out of the rings once the other cables are disconnected. The other option is to remove the split loom as you suggested but that will be painful. Assembly will be a multi-stage gig working from the side furthest from the where the cables go into the fibreglass. Fit the loom tube over any cables that terminate in an area and then pass through a ring, add the next cables then through the next ring and so on
