Stabicraft Ride quality

Views sought on ride quality of a 5.33 Stabicraft, soft top,travelling head on into PPB chop or the gulf waters of Adelaide.
Have read comments that they are hard riding.

The ride quality of most boats (monohulls) is pretty much determined by how hard you push. Different people have different expectations as well. Stabi's and the like can also "bang" in a bit of chop when it catches under the sponson if you are running at a bit of an angle which to the uninitiated can certainly give the impression they are a hard rider. I've never spent any time in the smaller ones but from the time I have spent in a couple of larger ones, they are better than some - worse than others. I would suggest you take one for a strap yourself

My old man has a 609 super cab, I have riptide platey centre console, both boats are identical in overall dimensions. My rig has trim tabs the old fellas doesn't. As per previous posts it all about what your expectations are. The stabi bangs as much as mine in head sea, it needs tabs big time like most plate boats, I'd say ride is similar to majority of high end plate boats (origin, amm, riptide etc etc). The stabi eats my rig for rough water going though, those things are absolute weapons when it turns to shit, so much buoyancy and stability you can drive them hard and they are rock steady and just keep coming up. I recon the whole alloy RIB thing is a winner if sea keeping ability is high on your hit list. Stabi, Profile, Ocean Cylinder, Kiwi Craft etc etc.

I had a 609HT. I think the deadrise on the 5.3s is a moderate 15-16 degrees or similar and the bigger ones are 20 or so. I am a through and through glass man. At the end of the day they are great plate boats but they are still aluminium.

Ive been on a couple of mates boats and they are just ok, not bad at rest but as a fishing platform they have stuff all fishing area for the size of the boat. In all pretty disappointing.

You may want to talk to Origin, we have a 6.6 Genesis which is an ocean cylinder, she has 23 degrees dead rise & handles all the rough conditions. But I agree that any boat can be rough in bad condition if you drive her hard
