There should be 3 numbers on that plate. I assume the plate you're talking about is somewhere in the splash well. It should be black and silver with Seafarer's old contact details on it. The first number will be the month of manufacture, with what should be the other 2 numbers being the year of manufacture. 389 would mean the boat was manufactured in March, 1989. This was how I was able to work out the age of my old V-Sea and Viking. Seafarer were even able to tell me the original colour of the boat, what a Dealer originally sold it and even what outboard it was sold with. I don't know if that information would be readily available, but it wouldn't hurt to try; you never know what you might turn up. It will only take a bit f Google effort and a couple of phone calls. Hope this helps.

I fish; therefore I am...
Politicians are just like kangaroos; they're lovely to have around, but they need a good CULL every now and then just to keep the population in check...
Well that's disappointing, it looks like my Viking is a March 1940 Model.
Hard to see in the picture but the serial number on the top plate (340) is the same as the model number on the bottom plate.
Anyone know what Section 1 Safety and Section 11 Construction means?
Looks like you're 301 boats before 1985 Patrol.
I am not too sure Seafarer ever used a numbering system for date of manufacture, but I could be wrong, I used to sell them back in the '80s and we never knew of such a system.
I hope they didn't Noel otherwise I have a very old boat.
Patrol here's an old pamphlet for your viewing pleasure, I think it was originally put up by Noel?
I'm still waiting for a performance report with your new motor?
BTW, with Viking #39 I'd think your's was probably made in the first or second year of production. (78-79)
Ditto Fed. How did you solve your ventilating/cavitation issue? You definitely have one made in the early eighties cause I had one that I bought from Hortons Boatyard in Capalaba.
Duck
Ok so she is a early one.hey duck fish still no Luck with the cavitation issue can't lower the motor any lower without cutting away the transom so thinking about a hydraulic jacking plate but new a new sounder first
Surprised you still having those problems with the motor mounted on the transom. My Viking had the motor mounted one hole up and no issues. Had a friend who had one of those early Signatures with that funny transom arrangement which he mounted the transducer on the transom directly in front of the leg and that caused him heaps of cavitation/ventilation problems. Needlessly to say he remounted the transducer elsewhere. Hope your new sounder works well for you.
Duck
Had another look at the motor today duck fish and it is too high gona try and lower it 1 bolt hole should just be able to do that without needing to cut out the transom. cav plate is about 20mm above the bottom of the hull.
94patrol
Just wondering what prop you have fitted on what motor if you don't mind sharing?
Cheers

17p vengeance fitted by local Mercury dealer with new Mercury 135hp four stroke
That should be right. On my 565L with a Merc 150 Four I am swinging a 18p Enertia prop. Funny thing the tides have a big effect on WOT. Running with tide WOY is 5600 rpm, against the tide 5300 rpm. Go figure that.
Duck
That is strange Duck, wot rpm should be higher against the tide.
