I would hazard a guess at no if you live in NSW and have a NSW registered vessel. If you have a Qld registered vessel and are a Qld resident (just down for holidays etc) then yes.

The Qld law is once you have been living here for more than 3 weeks (as in intending to remain live here, not on holidays!) rego licences etc must be changed to Qld versions. NSW would have similar laws.
I'm surprised you are actually able to get away with holding both licences with all the "co operation" between authorities these days, that is something they would be pretty hot on to stop - Stopping Mr Drunk or disqualified driver from continuing to drive for example.

    Interstate marine licences

You can use a valid recreational marine licence issued by another Australian state or territory in Queensland if all of the following apply:

    • you are at least 16 years old
    • your marine licence is current
    • you operate within the conditions on your interstate marine licence.

If your interstate marine licence has expired, you need to:

    • renew your licence with the issuing state

    or

You can convert your valid interstate marine licence to a Queensland marine licence at a transport and motoring customer service centre or QGAP office that provides marine licensing services—please call to confirm before visiting.
To do this, you will need to:

You will get confirmation of your marine licence.

I was told by qld transport that one boat license is enough, and your license should be from the state where you do most of your boating.

Wonder how a NT fisho would go in other states no license or rego for boat required there.

There is no general rule, according to the Victorian website that if in your home state you don't need rego you fine to use your boat in Victoria as a tourist, on the other hand ACT residents need to apply for NSW rego to boat outside the ACT.

A Few years ago I saw a few NSW fishermen who had taken their 5hp set ups to glenlyon dam as part of a club trip, getting pulled by the water police who were fining them for operating unregistered boats.
