    Polyboat owners ??

    Hi all,

I'm either not in the know, a bit daft or both!

How the hell can I register for the Polyboat owners forum; it would appear the admin has blocked new users yet I note a few new users have posted Today; am I missing something?

Either way, I've been lurking here for a bit, reading the wealth of knowledge and am in the process of upgrading my wee 4.3 Clark for something a bit more (insert something) and would like to research more about the Drifter 4.5 on that forum.

Anyways, keep up the good work and it's great to see so many Ausfish stickers on the bay and pin

    Cheers
    Rick

I've had a 4.5 Drifter now for 5 years after owning a 4.1. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Do a search on here on 4.5 polycraft - a few of us have had them over the years. Good little tubs.

Hi mate! Ive got a 599 Frontier half cabin running a 150HP 4 stroke Honda, love it!! really nice soft ride although I was coming out of a quintrex 600 offshore and felt like I need a knee and hip replacement in anything over 6 knots and 1m swell.

From memory when I signed up I had to email the forum admin.

I have a mate who is selling his beautiful condition poly drifter 4.5M side console with a low hours 50 HP honda on it and reco'd trailer let me know if you are interested.

    Cheers

    Re: Polyboat owners ??

Can I jump in and hijack this thread a bit?

I'm also looking at a 4.5 poly centre console and have a few questions.

Is a 50Hp big enough? or do they really need a 60?

If one doesn't have the under floor fuel tank can one be retrofitted? From pics I have seen the floor seems to have a bolted in section down the middle. And what is under the floor in that section?

Is there any significant difference between the 4.5 and 4.55? apart from the rego on the 4.55 being pushed into the next cost bracket.

Can the oceanic trailers they come on be drive on/off?

    Thanks in advance

    I have a 455 frontrunner with a 50 4stroke.

Yes 50hp is enough. Yes a 60 would be better, but if the right boat comes up with a 50 i wouldn't knock it back for that reason. 50hp gets up on the plane ok with my family of four, and is capable of pulling a large adult on a tube.

Mine has the underfloor tank. Cant see there being a problem getting a tank installed if doesn't have one. Pretty sure there is just empty space under there if tank isn't already fitted.

I think the 455 was made until 06 or 07 then the design changed slightly to the 4.5. The read 'pods' are shorter, and also the rear seats are a different design, larger and have storage in them.

Yes, the special poly designed trailers can be drive on
