    Trailer service Brisbane southside

Can anyone recommend a place on the Southside to take my trailer in to have the hydraulic brakes serviced?

    Cheers.

What needs servicing on it? No trying to sound like an ass, but they are fairly straightforward to work with.

One of the cylinders is not retracting properly so that on the weekend I had a smoking wheel. Had to stop and jack it up and the wheel was stuck fast. After a lot of tapping around with a hammer I was able to free it up enough to keep going and it's probably fine now but I would prefer a professional to go over it for my peace of mind.

The trailer is only 2 years old and after being imported from the US it was only used as a ramp trailer at the marina. The brakes were never even bled. I can't believe the road worthy didn't show this up. After confronting the mobile mechanic who did it, they said that they just hook it up to a machine which engages the pump and then they spin a wheel and if it doesn't move then the brakes are working. Well I can guarantee they didn't to that because there was no fluid in the lines at all! I bet they just heard the pump running and that was good enough.

I'm sure I'm quite capable of sorting it out as they look like pretty standard Kodiak calipers but I think it would be better for a professional to do it mainly for insurance reasons. If I have an accident and cause a death and the reason were faulty brakes then I'm probably up the brown creek if I've worked on it myself.

Thanks, I'm willing to give them a try unless there's anything closer to Mansfield/Wishart/Mt Gravatt area. I was thinking more along the lines of trailer builders/repairers but I guess there would be plenty of auto mechanics that would know their way around boat trailers.

They do the lot mate - and specialise in trailers. Worth the trip.

I've heard that United car care are the ones to use as well. However it's cheap as chips to replace the caliber completely, so much so servicing the existing one seems pointless and expensive.
Being US might be an issue that I didn't have to deal with in comparison....
Lastly to service that piston just take the caliber off and compress the breaks it will almost pop out. The problem will be that salt has built up on the piston stopping it from moving freely. A little bit of wet and dry sandpaper cleans them up perfectly.
    Good luck
