Thread: Fraser Island beach conditions

    Question Fraser Island beach conditions

Has anyone been along Fraser Island recently? if so what are the beach/driving conditions like? Any note worthy gutters to look for along the way?

    Cheers,
    Will.

Waddy Lodge update their facebook page with regular reports on the beach conditions: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Waddy...855144?fref=ts

Probably worth noting this: Hook Point is still a problem, and you MUST be there around low tide. Otherwise you will get stopped by the trees, and will need to take the high tide track which is bumpy, rocky and generally awful.

Gutters are a personal thing that can fire at different stages of the day or tide and I'm sure you will have your favourite by the time you leave.

    Hi Will
I just came back from orchid beach and the beach is like a highway and at low tide it is beach all the way.
The gutters just south of Indian head were great and full of decent tailor at times.

    Re: Fraser Island beach conditions

Just got back yesterday, the beach conditions are still excellent for driving, they are the best I have seen for a long time. The weed is gone and the Tailor are starting to come on in the gutters, not in big numbers yet and they are only coming on the chew right on dusk. Didn't see any caught in the day time low tide gutters, the average size is about 38cms at the moment.
