    Underwater lights

    Hi,

thinking of fitting under water lights. Just wondering who has, where abouts did you fit them and any issues?

i have a Seafarer Victory and thinking of fitting Ocean Led A4 under the swim platforms.

post some pics if you can! Thanks.

    Hi Dave,
I was thinking of using these but are for standard bungs.
My bungs weren't the same so couldn't use.
Might be worth looking at to save you drilling more holes in your transom.

I have just got the cheaper ones from Whittworths and they work well.
We had them on up at 1770 at anchor and had fish and squid behind us in no time.

    Hi Dave.

I had a set of lights fitted to the pods of my Seatrek when it was being built. Pretty sure they were supplied by Sam Allen Wholesale, but could not tell you the model number.

All fitted up by the boat builder during the build. The wires run through the pods up through the transom and join into the wiring loom from there. Only had the boat for 18 months, and have not had any issues with them. In my opinion, they are worth their weight in gold, and I would not have another offshore boat that did not have a set attached. There are probably better - brighter sets on the market, but these certainly do work well. Turn them on when anchored offshore of a night time, and you will have yakkas and squid at the back of the boat in no time flat. A great way to load up on fresh bait for the next days fishing.

    cheers

    Jeff

Another option is Trim Tab lights. These are Aqualuma, mounted on a s/s brackets as my tabs weren't flat s/s plate type, nor did I want to drill thru them.

Downside is them not being well below the waterline, but upside is I can change the angle with the tabs etc, and cable penetration thru transom is well above the waterline.

They all will work great. First time I had mine on in LMI lagoon the masses of bait around the transom was phenomenal. Kids were catching little baitfish thru to baby octopus in coffee mugs. The bigger bait were chewing on the little bait, and so it went on up the food chain to the big shadows crunching pike etc just on the rim of light. Great fun, even without a rod in the water.
    Cheers

The one I bought didn't fit my bung hole either, it was supposed to but didn't so look into the thread size before buying.

I had OceanLED A6 (x2) on my old boat. They were okay. But on my new boat I went with Lumitec Seablaze 3 (x2) and they are so much brighter. You can also get the Seablaze "X" model if you want to be seen from the moon. The effect these lights have on the fish is amazing.

Yeah, they're circular units each containing 8 LEDs.
