Assuming you haven't turned the gain down or noise suppression up, it sounds like the unit has either lost sensitivity or power output or your transducer has failed. No way to further ascertain which apart from plugging your display into a known good transducer and checking it. If it is transducer, a dedicated marine electronics specialist may be able to fit a plug to another brand of transducer as finding a genuine one will be entirely reliant on someone having old stock. Either that or look for a second hand replacement. If the unit itself has failed - time for a new sounder
I had exactly the same problem with my navman. It wasn't the tranny because my other navman unit worked fine with it. I gave it a rest for about 6 months after buying a different brand. Tried it again out of curiosity and the things been working fine again for some time. It used to fog up regularly and I reckon that might have had something to do with it.
