    Evans Head boat capsize ?

TWO people have been assessed by paramedics after their boat capsized at Evans Head this afternoon. A spokeswoman from NSW Ambulance media said they received a call from Marine Rescue at 12.45pm about a boat which had overturned.
She said two patients were assessed at the scene.
Marine Rescue NSW regional controller Stephen Reading said the two men, who were competing in the Evans Head Fishing Classic, had been fishing off Cahors Reef.

"We're not exactly sure what happened, but the vessel has sunk," he said.
"The two men were taken on board by other vessels and brought back to Evans where they were met by ambulances.
"We believe they're both in hospital now."
Seems this occurred during the Evans Head classic fishing comp ?

anyone know the fishers or boat ?

    Hi Phil ,
I don't have any other Details other than it was Troy Dixon & his 19 Haines that Sunk . Also I beleave
    ( thankfully ) all are Ok .
Heres a Copy from a Post Nugget put up
about it on his website :-

Many of you know Troy from Wilsons - he and a few mates are fishing the Evans Head Classic.
They took a big wave and flipped his beloved Haines which is now sitting on the bottom with all his gear.
Fortunately someone saw it happen and got the rescue crew to them.
Few injuries, battered and bruised but all alive.

I'm told it wasn't on the Evans bar, just a big wave came out of nowhere - we all know how experienced Troy is, I've seen him out in that Haines in 30+ knots in a comp - just goes to show even the most experienced can get caught.
I'm sure we all wish him and crew all the best and commiserations for the loss of the boat, which anyone who has seen it knows it was a floating tackle warehouse.

I gather that they were fishing at Kaos - which is a large rock just under the surface, runs parallel to the coast, that breaks in all but totally benign seas.
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....

For those that know Kaos, I believe they were fishing inside the wave zone, and yes they do just jump and grab you in there

No one was going in there to retrieve the boat until it has calmed down

    Bad place to be

    cheers
