Thanks Shaun, so these are the marks for the gutters where you reckon most boats strike trouble.

    Hmmm, thanks, I think??

But I fish N/E of the bar so it's pointless as you have to follow that sand bar which would now be on your left all the way out anyway.
It does eliminate the outer bank but as I said I don't go out on big easterly swells anyway which cause the outer bank to stand up.
It's funny Tony,I wouldn't cross Noosa with my big tub but go out of Wide Bay all day long.
    Make you a deal Mick.

You teach me how to do Wide bay & I'll show you how to do Noosa!!

Wont take me long to teach you Noosa though. It is an easy bar if crossed with a bit of water & some patience.

I know people bang on about how bad it is, but like anything, treated with respect, its simple.

I suppose I started my boating here, so I don't know any different.

Did Mooloolaba on Friday & my biggest worry was not getting run over by the Riviera convention that came screaming in full noise just as we reached the mouth. There were 7 of them screaming in, & we just fitted in amongst them coming back in.

Maybe not "fitted" in, as they were beautiful boats, & there was an ugly little Sailfish mixed amongst them LOL

Haha sorry there is plenty of variety there I'm sure you will work around them. We just need the weather to line up.

    Re: Wide Bay Bar

    Hi Tony,
i to have crossed the bar quite a few times now and always gone through the main channel, which is couple kms long, and at times can be a washing machine on the inside mark when mid tide and against the wind. We crossed the bar last Sunday hour after high tide, except went the fishamans gutter for the first time. We to fish Ne of the bar, but I just headed wide of the outer back then continued on. It was extremely easy and only 200-300 meters crossing as opposed to 3.5 kms of the main channel. I intend to us the fishamans gutter when condition allow, like all bars keep eye out and always pick your weather. If you do go ( and you should) head Ne for some great fishing

Generally pretty easy to make room around Rivieras Tony - just make it look like you might scratch them. A typical Riv owner really hates that LOL. That is of course if they are actually watching where they are going.

    Hey Mick,
Found some footage of Tony crossing the Noosa Bar in his very first every Quinnie back in the day
The guy in the white platey copped a good one on the bow

Rob, how did you ever dig up that footage?? I was told it was deleted!!

Mate, I couldn't believe watching that how thick some people are. They put themselves, their boats & others at risk by being knobs, not sitting back, watching & counting

Its just not that hard, & that footage was a very mild day, with a channel I might add

That white platey took a good one, but he managed it well.

Heading out tomorrow Rob, but not in my tub, a fellow Ausfisher, so we'll see how we go. Heading to the Hards!!

    You enjoy work sunshine
