I have seen boaties with those chunky fat 25 litre portable fuel containers but I can't find any at the usual common outlets. 20 L is the biggest. Are they illegal or something?
I'm going with a group to Great Keppel in Sept and my 5.3 boat only holds 72L in the under floor tank. I was planning on taking X 4 portable 25 litre containers of fuel. I know there are mobile on water fill up barges but I want to make sure I have ample fuel.

If you do a google search for "Scepter 25 Litre Squat Fuel Container" it should sort you out.
VThese 53 litre ones look good. Any idea how much they are?
When we've done trips to Fraser with the boats, we simply got some 100 litre steel drums of unleaded from the local fuel depot, and retuned the empties afterwards.
You can syphon from them with a jiggle syphon or get a hand or even 12v electrical pump.
That may be worth considering. The 100 litre tanks are not so big that you can't manhandle them around or roll them about the place without too much trouble. You can even sit them in the boat itself for the trip out on the barge.
Note to self: Don't argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience....
Pretty sure repco sell the sceptor ones in 25l. I have a few from some time ago. They go on sale fairly often also.
I know you can get on water fuel at Rosslyn Bay but I haven't heard anything about on water fill up barges. Have you booked a fuel drop off with the barge?Originally Posted by seashawgal

I'm going with the Whittley club Craig and the guy organising the trip said there is a mobile fuel boat around the area. I haven't looked into it any further yet. But I can let you know more when I do. Cheers

I did recently see them on sale, I was sure at Repco, but maybe it was somewhere else. Every now and then they go for 30-40% off and I se them turn up in a sale catalogue in the junk mail..
Good news Repco Caloundra are getting X 4 in for me and they go on special next week approx $40 something each so I feel lucky. Thanks for all the help. Perhaps others may want to get some from Repco next week when they go on special.
