Also I don't think C-Map have updated their cards to have green zones in them have they? I prefer Navionics or Garmin maps over C-Maps as there appears to be more bottom detail, and green zone information.
My Navman has two slots, one for the C-Map and one for an SD Card. You download all of the marks onto the SD Card and use the PC-Planner software & card reader to open on a PC, from there you can at worst print out a copy of all your marks and re-type them in.
(For some reason you have to use their card reader, it won't load with any other reader, that I am aware of).
It might be worth asking the guys at Trymax marine if they have a solution for the backlight failure?
Not sure how easy it will be to get a hold of the c-map planner software and card reader?

Do the current G2...? $200 maps have the green zones on them?

A bit of a drive but Trymax do have the know how as to getting the marks from your Navman provided the conditions mentioned exist. It would at least be worth a phone call to find out how much it will cost. 07 3245 3633.

So after installing the Garmin 10" it seems I don't have the room on my dash to run the sounders side by side without putting out the flush mount compass so I've removed the Furuno and P66 Transducer out of the boat.
Anyone got any ideas on what I should expect to get for the Furuno on the second hand market?
Also the previous external mounted Navman GPS antenna has a multi pin plug and the Garmin has a coax style inlet on the back of the unit. Does anyone know if it is possible to get the appropriate coax fitting and splice the Navman cable into it or do I need to convert to a garmin external GPS? The inbuilt GPS works fine, I just thought it couldn't hurt to hook up the external antenna if it was possible.

Your garmin will have antenna specific software to drive it so you cant just add any old antenna PM Sent

Spaniard king--what would your recommendation be for a xducer for an Elite-7 HDI Chirp? Transducer supplied seems to be very deficient, poor bottom discrimination and hardly shows fish. Don't believe it is a mounting issue as i have experimented. raise gain a bit and you lose everything to noise. At idle, that is, forget about anything at speed. The boat came with a 90's Lowrance LC-X15-MT, a big screened monochrome LCD sounder which gave quite a good picture. I only bought the new combo due to my old GPS being unable to back up or convert marks. The xducer plugs are the same--I connected the old xducer up, selected generic 50/200, and got a far superior picture, lost the temp readout and downscan options, obviously. EDIT--depths in question only out to forty fathoms,(trolling) with bottom fish only being looked for out to 23 fathoms.
Don't rule out a faulty transducer out of the box. Certainly won't be the first or last. If it's still under warranty might be worth seeing if your retailer can test it for you.
83/200 kHz would be a good choice for that
