Hey mate. You should look at Bonito. I have 5.6 metre and it is awesome. I know they are doing a new 5 metre model.
Quality plus and a great handling boat...FF...

Re: 4.8 to 5.2m Advise
Hello Muttonchop,
i have a 520 Haines hunter prowler with a 100 yammie fourstroke.
Great for outside and inshore work. It's rated for 115 but the 100 with a four blade prop goes well. (37 knots @ 6000rpm wot)
The ride is fantastic and the prowler is more than capable offshore.
I've taken mine out to the Barwon banks on a few occasions and regularly fish Caloundra wide, Hutchies and deep tempest.
Although rated for five P.O.B. I would only fish a maximum of three.
The only negative is at rest with two or three 100kg blokes fishing off one side they can be a little tippie because of the 19-20 degree dead rise.
In saying that, I would prefer a better ride in slop than stability at rest and I generally fish solo these days so it's a non issue.
Regards,
Tony.

I reckon you should get a glass boat. So much better in that size boat.

Re: 4.8 to 5.2m Advise
Anyone own a Surtees 485 CC or BC 490
if so how do these boats go for blue water on a reasonable day, freeboard looks a bit low?

The Gale Force punch above their weight for a small boat, sure not as good as as my long-boat, but still pretty good

Settled on the surtees 485cc, cant fault build quality or finish. should be good for the dams and esterary while still having a good ride in the bay

Re: 4.8 to 5.2m Advise
Took delivery of the boat of give some advise on how they go, i have the CC version of the 485
Fitted with a Yamaha f60f, 11 1/8 x 13 prop peeks at 6000 WOT will give 61km/h 33 knots. from 4000 up rpm matches speed. boat feels best cruising at 4500 - 5000, 45-50km/s.
trolling speed of 6 knots engine is at 1200.
As for ride actually feels better at speed, hitting the large tanker rollers around 2ft high at 50km is quite stable and landing very soft.
WOT boat does get a bit flighty however would be fine on a smooth day.
Bit more dry storage area would be nice but as the floor is fully seal you loose this option, on the other side boat will never sink.

Have a look at javelin boats 5.1m U tube, they are in Cairns, they are very hard to beat for its size.

Did you chechout the Tabs 5.3 master series, went thru similar decision after selling my HH 560 offshore. Plenty of fish ability, doesn't ride as smooth as a glass but came home in a 60 knot breeze recently and absolutely smiled all the way back on my decision.
