Furuno 620 vs 627 and price check on 627....
Am pretty well convinced I will head down the well trodden path of replacing my existing sounder with a Furuno, I have had a 620 on a previous boat and rated it highly, so the 627 is the obvious choice. I would probably consider a secondhand 620 at the right price, but for those that have used both, is the 627 a noticeable improvement on the 620?
A couple of places are doing the 627 and P66 transducer for $995, can't imagine it getting much cheaper than that, but if anybody knows of any please let me know. No doubt a new model will be just around the corner though....
Thanks,
Scott.

I have just grabbed one from Trymax for my own rig. No plans as far as I know for a new model just yet. A significant saving off the normal price due to large quantity deal for boat show season.

Comparing my 620 with mates new 627 the screen brighness and resolution are chalk and cheese, also the bottom recognition function works really well according to my mate. I don't think I would upgrade for no reason but when the 620 craps itself I would simply go to the 627 without much further thought. Depends on $$ you got available but if the difference is say 3 or 4 hundred the 627 would be the go IMO.

Cheers guys.
I agree Crunchy, for a few hundred extra I would go new, but have seen (missed) a couple of 620's around the $400 mark. For all the obvious reasons I think I will probably end up getting new, unless a really cheap 620 presents itself in the meantime.
