    Two Good Days Fishing

Decided to take an account planing day with one of my colleagues which saw us hitting the water fairly early and getting to Harries just on Sunrise - too find about 15 boats already there. Consequently it was a bit quiet.

Headed to another fav spot further east and found a few snapper. mostly under size but we got two bigger models and the bait was thick s with huge schools of Herring and some Yakkas also thrown in - these were gratefully accepted for bait for the next day's trip.

After this we headed off to find some Whiting and were soon on a patch with double hookups in boat from the first drop. We pulled around 30 in before the tide and action slowed but persisted and also got a couple of nice size squid - you could see them hunting the Jig in the clear water around 4 meters.

We were home by lunch and after sorting out the fish and getting some work done that afternoon it was time to repack for Saturday when we would be heading out around Cape Moreton taking advantage of the great weather. Unfortunately our plans for an early start were dashed due to some family things going on but we headed out at 11, getting to the deep marks we had by 1 - awesome run across the bay.

The fish were stacked up but not eating and the first two hours were a bit quiet except for a few Rosey Jobfish but only one keeper amongst them. Around 3 our luck changed and we were on to some good Snapper bringing 5 over 40 on in the next hour and a bit - unfortunately the taxman then moved in so we the bite shut down.

A good trip back in the dark saw us at Fisherman's Island by 7.20 and home by 8 - really happy with the way the boat is running at the moment - total trip was 161kms on 84 liters of fuel.

Certainly a good weekend and about to start cooking Calamari, Snapper and Chips!!
