Fishing with Plastics

Having a beer or two with my brother-in-law and partner discussing that we're moving away from bait to fishing with plastics.
Both have been in the Airforce since leaving school. Done tours in Afghanistan, etc
His partner looked me rather strange but I guessed what she was thinking. I said "plastics are a lure we use".
To which she replied "glad that's the case as I thought you were fishing with explosives"
