    Furuno 585 Question

    Guys,
Does this system have the facility to block out the GPS coordinates?? Just to stop sticky beaks if they come up to the helm when you are on a mark.

Heard some stories of phones being used to photograph the screen, handheld GPS units being used to secretly ping marks etc, so I thought if I could hide it, it might take away the temptation.

I would have thought that most phones these days could track their own coords

You talking about guests on your boat? Very poor form if they did that without asking!

    Tony,
Honestly, why would anyone want your Hussar ( The other Red Meat ) marks for starters
I have plenty Hussar, Grinner, Kingies, Spangled ( All the good stuff ) & not to mention Sandbar marks. Should I be concerned?
What about - taking notes, memorizing co-ordinates & charts - It happens!!!!!
    Pretty piss poor.
I have posted the biggest Red mark on this site previously ( Even Banana doesn't have it !!! ).
    Here it is again for those who missed it last time - " Big Red " S 25 20 4581 E 131 02 0598.
Give it a crack - Good luck

    Furuno 585 Question

Yes you can turn the co-ords display off Tony.

See post 4 from Crunchy. Can't remember if this is exactly right, but would be close.

You can display all sorts of data, like speed, depth, voltage etc, in the choice of 2 data boxes or specific areas on the screen.

Otherwise, do what Greg L does, use some masking tape etc.
    Cheers

Ok now I get it ...So is this the reason you won't take a photo for a tourist like me Rob... You afraid my gps camera will steel your marks ... Lol..

tony if people are willing to go behind your back without asking like that you fish with the wrong people .... At the end of the day a mark might have fish on it one trip and not the next .. So good luck to them if they rely on fishing marks and not finding the fish .. If you want any of robs marks just sing out... Lol
