Yep. Normal with the gold card. Need to "upgrade" to navionics + for the "free" 12mths worth of updates. Should be a little pamphlet in the box advertising The "free" updates, read the fine print. I was just as surprised and disappointed as you.

Yep same for me. I have the a78 and it can link via WiFi so can update automatically..but of course only with navionics + which is $179...I'm just going to wait a year or two then get it because my maps are only 2014 so not too outdated...Bloody awesome sounder though

Yep you brought a unit with whats referred to as a "bundled card" do what I did, complain to where you brought it from, and to navionics inc the navionics facebook page, thats what I did and Navionics gave me a new updatable card, it`s crap how they sell you a unit with a "gold card" with outdated information, I told them that according to their websites a "gold card" comes with 12 months freshest data but the "gold card" they supply you with is a "bundled card". I went off like a frog in a sock, and in the end they gave me what I was lead to believe I had purchased, I was even going to complain to fair trading but I had calmed down when Navico supplied me with a genuine gold card

I see your point mate I too was pretty pissed about it but I don't have the energy to do that stuff. I don't have it in me...and for me the navionics+ is kind of got enough for me to cough up down the track anyway...but that is bloody good advice for others out there!
