    quicky

Headed out for a quick trip north east of Sykes spending the night behind Broomfield reef last week with Snapper Basher (locky), Cod Wallup (Andrew) & Moejoes (Bobby).

We hit the servo and bakery at 5.30am to fuel up and grab some pies and sausage rolls to latter be heated in he 12volt oven. We bumped into Adrian (Mega bite) at the servo. Nice to meet you Adrian and good luck with the sale mate.

We headed towards sykes and while a long way west of the reef went over a small 2mtr rise so we circled back around and had our first drop of the trip on a new spot resulting in a couple of nice reds and large grassies in 35mtrs of water. The spot is now named in my gps as CodWallup!!!! After Andrew's (CodWallup) first drop resulted in a cod!!! Lol shortly followed by a nice 8kg red by the big fella. After boating half a dozen or so good fish we moved on to chase a few more quality fish. We hit new ground for something different resulting in 10 nice Reds caught over about 4 hrs on multiple stop and drops. I decided to head a little wider where I've caught a few goldbands in the past and look around for a few new spots resulting in 8 nice goldband and a couple more Reds for our troubles. The fish stopped chewing so we pulled the pin and headed in to Broomfield to anchor up for the night.
Next morning we headed out over a few old spots east of broomy and first drop Bobby lands a 8kg red and we all thought here we go..... But not to be. Fish were shut down and the next few hrs was slow and boring us to death so I decided to call it a day and head into the 35mtr ground where we caught a few good fish the previous day. On arrival another 2 reds and more quality grassies hit the deck bringing the red total up to 15 and that's where it stayed. We had a good box with a few trout, reds, pearlies, goldband and all the usual suspects so called it an early one and head in and drive back to Brisbane that afternoon.

Id like to say it was a real pleasure fishing with Locky & Andrew. I've been pretty lucky with all the guys I've taken fishing from this site to date. Good blokes that love to fish and have a laugh and that's all that's needed to make a good trip a great trip.

    cheers fellas

    Keith

Mate, looked like you struggled for your trout quota??

Feel free to give Juna a yell for any tips!! LOL

Great haul & report as usual mate.

How are the boys going with the bucket incident?? Coping??

Tell them from 1st hand experience, therapy can help, but it takes time

Well done big fella, your extended boat lay-up hasn't made you lose your touch with the Reds.

Great report there Bannana. You've definitely got 1770 down pat. I've now got my boat ready to head up there for a trip. Are there any "meet and greats" up there this year?

Not sure mate. They normally have one in September I think. I always seems to see someone up there each trip. I'm heading up with Soulfish in our boats weather permitting on the weekend of the 22nd of this month for 10 days. If the weathers shit we'll probably just come home but if it's good will stay and do a bit of exploring.
