    Batteries with dual posts

    Quick question for the masses.

Marine batteries with dual posts are both posts equal in their ability to throw power? As in would I be able to crank the motor from the smaller of the 2?

I'm relocating the batteries in the Seafarer and vertical clearance is very tight however if I ran the leads from the second post then I gain 1.5cm of clearance.

Other option is to try and find another terminal type that has less height than the current ones however I won't gain as much clearance going this way.

Or buy new batteries that are lower overall height. That leaves me with normal car type batteries and not marine so not an ideal solution.

Anyone know if the smaller posts can deal with cranking?

    Cheers

I use the small posts on my number 2 battery (deep cycle) which I alternate with the old cranker. Turns over the Volvo 190 just the same....and thats a GM truck engine.
