Jack nose of boat up high etc (assuming the tank pickups are down the back where they should be).

Monitor the bowl as you are draining fuel, emptying as required, as you don't want the crap getting through. Then add another 10L and drain this as well, maybe even twice. Then replace your filters.

To me makes no sense getting the crap out while using the boat. Do it at home, before the next time you use it.

Get the big 'Mr Funnel' and put the fuel back in through this. Monitor as it is going back in.
    Good luck.

PS. I am not a fan of Metho. Reports I have read, and 'crude' tests I have done have shown it not to work. But that's just my opinion!

That's the plan Brendon. I ordered online the funnel last night & the mechanic is here this morning. We will source a drum or 2, drain everything & then run it through the funnel going back in. Obviously change fuel filters & whatever else is necessary.
I agree, I'd rather not run the goo through the engines. Just have to hope we can FULLY drain tanks & get garbage out.
Thank you very much guys for all the input.

Your dealer should have explained the alert system, its functions and responses when delivering the boat to you.

This is the V6 Honda alert page, the 150 uses most of these as well

Had the mechanic here today. I have attached images of the fuel out of the primary filter, the secondary filter & what he drained out of the fuel rails?? I think thats what he called it.
He took the fuel rails out & then removed the injectors which are a mess, absolutely covered in muck.
The injectors are off to the injector shop.
Luckily, the starboard motor is fine. If he found a drop in the fuel rails he was going to rip the injectors out of it as well, but all good.
Plan is still to drain everything & replace with new clean fuel run through the new fuel filler/filter.
He photographed & video filmed every step, so there is heaps of evidence. When I receive this I will email to the servo & chase them up.
I will keep you updated as things occur.

Garry, I did print it all off & will have a read, I promise!!

The primary fuel filter needs to do a better job IMHO

Putting all fuel thu a filter funnel on the way into the boat should just leave the boat filters to polish the fuel as it seems they dont do much else?

How come the starboard motor didn't swallow any junk?

    Re: Broke down, AGAIN..............

Because of another issue a couple of weeks ago when an impeller gave way, the starboard motor tank was fairly full, & only copped 30/40 litres, whereas the port motor, which did all the work getting us home as the starboard one failed, so I put 180 litres in it.

Thats all I can put it down to Darren

What did you find in the stbd primary and secondary filter and motor filters.

Did the port primary and secondary etc simply get overwhelmed by the volume of polluted ULP going to the port motor?

The idea of two motors for safety is what I have too but filling two tanks by buying fuel to fill them from the same servo without using a filter funnel really has highlighted a significant issue. If ? when the new Qld govt forces ethanol into all Qld fuel as a sop to a few northern MPs we will be forced to look for some means to deal with this too.

Is there a means of filtering / removing ethanol: I wonder?

    Chimo,
Not much at all in the starboard, as it only got a smaller percent of dodgy fuel

I was told once the primary & secondary filter get full, its still got to go somewhere, & the injectors are the next port of call.

Got an email from the funnel guy telling me it was posted today. He had 4K of damage to a motor due to bad fuel, hence the filter!!

Which funnel filter are you getting?

    Re: Broke down, AGAIN..............

The biggest one they make, 45 litres per minute.

    Re: Broke down, AGAIN..............

    I just watched those videos.
    Very impressive.
I might order a 45 litre one tonight from ebay $125 free postage.
Do you think the servos will have concerns of exposed fuel using these funnels????

    Re: Broke down, AGAIN..............

Not half as much concern as I have putting their crap into my motors!
