    Re: Jrc ff60

My first ff50 was on a 550 outsider 15 years ago. We could tell the difference between snapper and pearlies at the shelf at planing speed with that one and each one since on a 680 haines and a 542 signature. My guess is you are playing with the settings the wrong way. The beauty of the JRC is it won't 'invent' data that isn't there just to give you a pretty picture. I haven't seen a sounder yet that doesn't back off the gain on the plane.

With my brother in laws 625 Outsider there was just enough area at the back of the storage under the bunks. I am not sure whether you still get access to the external hull in this spot with the newer models. It stayed useful up to about 3000 rpm which meant we could sound around quicker. I set the transducers up through a changeover switch to make life easy. Attempting to get anything more would have involved cutting holes which he wasn't up for given it is always going to be trial and error. The easiest way to try this would be to remove your existing transducer and next time you are out put the transducer in a plastic bag full of water, wet the area, position the transducer to get an echo, and have someone hold it in the corner while you slowly apply throttle.
