I launched the tinny at Shorncliffe a bit before 6 this morning and headed out looking for a few prawns. I was heading in the direction of the fleet off Nudgee when the water erupted around the boat. Prawns were skipping in all directions so I was pretty quickly into gear and the first cast resulted in around 3 litres of good sized prawns in the top of the net. The next cast also saw a nice pile of prawns come aboard. It was pretty obvious that a bag limit would not be hard to achieve, so I decided to sort each cast and only keep the better quality prawns.
In the end, in less than an hour, I had put the net away and had a bit of a cruise around watching the antics and some of the hauls coming onboard some of the boats was truly impressive. I saw one guy bring a football sized pile of prawns up in one cast. I would be surprised if anyone failed to get their bag limit there this morning. I was back at the ramp just after 7am.
A shot of the catch in a 10 litre esky.
A sample of the catch without trying to find the biggest ones.
cheers
