ordering parts for a chinese outboard let the fun begin

Found an unbeatable deal on Gumtree last night I just had to buy its a Chinese maxis 4 HP 4 stroke (I love rebuilding anything) seller said it had no compression so I thought it was up for new rings but later on inspection I found the exhaust valve stuck and 1 bent push rod but for $150 I wasn't letting the deal slide
So now the fun begins of ordering parts I have been in contact with maxis Australia and thankfully all parts are stocked in Australia, prices of parts unknown yet but hopefully nothing like Yamaha
As for the valves I just called my engine reconditioned and he advised of using new valves as he cannot linish these or they'll be sloppy in the guides
So does anyone have an idea on how to re use these valves? They would have seen probably 10 to 15 hours max use

a bent valve should be replaced, it will never be any good just straightened, it will work (well probably) but it will just wear the valve guides out in no time, that is if it doesn't get stuck again.

Yeah noel the valve is strait but this engine doesn't run a overhead can so it uses push rods like an old car and the push rod has bent, I'll try upload pics just unsure how to from this android tablet

That valve on the white rag looks a little bent Gazza.
Are the pliers your old pull start handle being multi-tasked?
It will be interesting to see how the prices are.

so, is the valve bent at all, or just the push rod?? makes a big difference.

Pushrod is like a bent 3 inch nail, straighten it, looks good but will bend in the same place. I'd try all the engine reconditioners and or motor bike repairers for another push rod.

yeah I'm not going to attempt to straiten the push rod I'll just get a new one, maxis has a microfiche on there web site which helps a lot but no prices

I found the root of the problem the head gasket must have been leaking salt water thru the exhaust port as the exhaust valve is all rusted and pitted where as the intake valve I just removed has a polished surface
So I will be replacing the exhaust valve along with the valve guide, I just looked up the genuine Yamaha parts on boat net total cost is $155 so hopping the Chinese parts come in at under 100 bux still a great little buy

Too good to be true still waiting for a email confirmation from maxis about what's in stock even tho I was told every part was in stock and in Australia

Contacted parsun today about the parts same thing from them too

The lawn mower shop up here sells complete Briggs and Stratton engines for under $200.........Why not throw one on?.......Atleast you could buy your spare parts at Bunning's!

I once bought a new Chinese sinewave generator off of a mate who bid on 2 and won both......It ran for less than half an hour then the mother board had a meltdown.......It was sold from an Aussie seller who's add said all parts available......same as Honda....Pigs Ass nothing like a friggin Honda apart from being red......they also would never reply to e-mails or messages for their parts.

    I now own a Honda1kv.
