I suspect it depends on where you are, not sure about Mt Cotton but on the Sunshine Coast school holidays sucks, the Internet here is pretty poor most times but when the tourists come they overload the network and I have trouble with a number of sites, Ausfish just happens to be one of them. Also storms, not necessarily local also seem to have an effect.
