Re: so I started on my transom

Anyone have any info on paint to use on transom? Will Flowcoat go over expoy or is there other options...To be honest I have zero idea on boat paint
I really cant be bothered to color match so all white is ok, dont get me wrong it would be nice to match color but have no idea of best way to do that with colors available for easy purchase in store.
    Help please 😕

you can spray flowcoat/gelcoat out of a spray gun if you thin it down it will spray orange peely but you sand it back and buff it out nothing wrong with the way you did your transom aslong as all surfaces were prepped and cleaned properly I did mine the same way with a 150 hanging off the back bashes across moreton bay on bad days and no signs of fatigue yet.

I knew I would but spread on epoxy bog too thick which meant lots more sanding than I ever want to do but its coming up ok. you probably see the low points that ne a bit more filling, I'll finish that on weekend. Most importantly we can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

Looks awsome mate... As for paint. I use Norglass 2 pak epoxy. When i did my glass boat, i found a smash repair shop that lent me their spray booth to spray the boat. I painted it on a saturday and took it home on the sunday.

I first used the Norglass Shipshape primer surfacer, let that fully cure, sanded it and top coated with Norglass 2 pak. If you look on their website, they have all the info on their products. It hard as glass and the gloss is amazing.

Had limited time to get into this lately, I did want to get all painting done this weekend but only had 1 day so it never happened.
I did get the undercoat done so maybe finish it next weekend cross fingers.

Looking good mate. Any chance of a post with a breakdown of material costs and total time involved once you get to the end?

    Cheers

Yer shouldn't be too hard to do.
Time is hard to factor, you could get this done alot quicker than what I did it as a certain level of procrastination sank in a few times. Especially when it came to sanding.
