40hp Honda

Mates buying a boat with a 40hp Honda on it. Went & had a look , kicked her over started fine but no water coming out tell tale. Pushed muffs on tight and it came out. Put it in a bucket and still no water came out. Lady said it had just been serviced so she will take it back it tomorrow. Could it be the water pump has died ? No alarms came on while running & tube wasn't blocked . Motor is a 98 model . Cheers

water plug is dead =D otherwise u got ant in the water way

Possibly

Water pump issue
tel tale blocked
thermostat seized open or removed (will reduce block pressure)

Check housing not melted when inspecting the water pump

Was the water level in the bucket higher than the pump say a couple of inches above the av plate?

Mechanic said the telltale was blocked , we pulled it off and checked so must have been blocked inside . Pumps nice & strong now . Thanks for the replies
