    And the tohatsu bashers - tohatsu make the merc 40 rebadged) and also the 15/18 (still). Their two strokes are excellent motors.

    Mates etec 200ho on a 6m Haines uses 3-400ml of oil to every 100l of fuel cruising at 25-27 knots

    In 1000 hrs they would have 3 services which in theory should be cheaper as all u do is change plugs, decoke using engine tuner, and lower unit service.
    In a fourstrokes you would have changed the sump oil 10 times. That's still a lot of synthetic oil. Also valve train adjustments, anodes etc.

    their two strokes are basic but very reliable engines
    the 9.8 is prob the best aux engine at only 27kgs 10+ kg light then anything else

    Sounds about the same as mine on the Victory. If they are over propped or under heavy load (towing) by all reports they would use a bit more though.
