So, I motor along 10kms (in open blue water) to my set waypoint with my outboard.
I come within 100m of my waypoint and slow down.
Without changing electric motors, what is the most effective and accurate method to land (and then anchor on with MK ipilot) on this waypoint with the least variation as possible?

Proberbly have to drive over your waypoint mark it with your MK and then return to it.......Why don't you just motor to the way point the use the anchor function of the MK?

i find that as i get closer and closer to the waypoint, it becomes harder and harder to land on the waypoint with the MK - i find it difficult to keep the MK straight as i zone in on the waypoint - perhaps tidal current, wind and waves - not too sure...
Once i land on the waypoint, i will anchor up with SpotLock no problems there.

Are you running your plotter in North up or Track up Splash? if you have it in track up mode - the easiest for high speed travel, the screen will start to jump around as you slow down and start doing circles around the waypoint. If however you change from track up to North up as you are arriving at your waypoint, the screen will remain steady no matter what direction you are travelling - you just need to adjust to left is right if you are travelling south - much the same as driving a remote controlled car towards yourself.

Great tip Scottar - will check. Yes it was jumping around a lot at and near the waypoint. :-(
