    Smile Noosa marlin fishing

Taking the family off to Noosa for a week from Saturday, and although Sea Breeze is not giving me a lot of confidence in the weather playing ball, I was hoping to try my luck at getting a small black marlin.

I have fished offshore from Noosa a bit previously, mainly bottom bashing and a bit of trolling the inshore reefs for Spaniards and spotties, but I have never targeted marlin.

I was hopping someone would be able to point me in the right general direction with locations etc, I am not asking for someone's favourite spot X , but rather any general guidance such head out to Nth reef the troll along the 80 m line for example.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated just in case the forecast does improve( fingers crossed).

    Thanks
    Hunter

I cant give you a spot X, but I think you have the right idea except maybe chardons rather than north reef.

Not really sure there are any big numbers at the moment though, If you can find some bait you are one step closer. They were thick in November/December to the point where I pulled one out of a school of Bonito at Jew shoal. I havent been out for over a month so update how you get on!

I asked a mate of mine who is a mad keen game fisherman (and I mean mad keen) on the sunshine coast about targeting marlin his advice was, look for other boats to see what their doing, look for bird activity which could indicate surface action, and dont worry if you use $300 in diesel and not catch anything, his advice was all good until the $300 in diesel part, think I will just anchor up and fish for sharks.

North reef, back of sunshine and chardons. Keep your eyes out for all the usual signs.... Birds and dolphins and bait. Been slow in close this season but could happen any day.
