    Coochiemudlo report

I wonder how many took advantage of the lull in the weather to get out on the weekend? I managed to get out in my small tinny to fish around Coochie.

Plenty of other boats around, and the car park was full. The queue at the ramp, when I got back, was long, but moved along well with people being courteous and helpful.

    The catch ...

    - Lots of small grassy emperors. I managed one quite a bit over legal size, and he was most tasty.
    - also caught whiting, squire (undersize), a nice flounder, a yellow tailed pike, a moses perch (undersize), and a tusk fish (undersize)
    - and one sea toad - the biggest I have ever seen

A bit of fun after a week of bad windy weather.

no probs. Personally I'd love to read more reports about what is being caught, so I thought I better do it myself too.

Haven't ventured out to Peel yet - the tinny is only 3.3m so I am very careful about the weather and conditions. Viccy point is so busy these days, I think I will try to only go there mid-week.

Ah, yes in a wee little tinny like that it might be a bit sporting to head to Peel. If ever you get the chance to take family or friends out there, do it. I remember it was magic, crystal clear water, nice sandy beach to anchor up and shade lined shore for a picnic to let the kids go nuts.

The south west corner used to be good for a drift with plastics or bait for the odd legal squire and grassy.

I went out on Sunday night at the back of Coochie and managed 5 large Sandies. with about 6 small squire and sweetlip. The largest Toadie I have caught was over at the red beacon at Patts Point. It went 60cm. I thought I had a jewie on for awhile .

Didn't get to measure this guy, but could easily have been that sort of size.
