    New Sounder Options

Looking at a new sounder/plotter with Structure Scan option for a tinny ( it has an Elite 5 new in the box already which i will use for plotter)

budget is $2500 to $3000, was wondering what options/recomendations are out there which includes trans/card etc, looks like Lowrance and Hummingbird are options as Garmins release will be a a while away ( have the 750s on another boat so like Garmin but not prepared to wait months) Fire away,, would like the big screen , wondering what are the best options

    Cheers

For that budget I wouldn't be looking at the models.
Lowrance have some great prices at the moment on HDS gen 2 non touch range. You could get the HDS10 for about 2k
Also Garmin have 820xs and 1020xs for 2-2.5k and I might be wrong but you might even be able to upgrade the Garmin to full chirp and stay about 3k just depending on your needs.

Just upgraded from a 750s to a garmin 1020xs with sidevu and chirp transducer, cost was $2.8k though.

i got to get this song out of my head. and now all of you will need to get it out of your head

a 1020xs +tm 150 +gcv+ g2 vision is around $2980 for power.. simple to use and all the goodies you can poke a yellow submarine at... its not a bad option

a nss9 with a LSS2 +83/200+ navionics gold would = $3040 . if the touch screen option is to your fancy

a humminbird 1199 with a navionics gold card would cost $3000

there is nothing stopping you from buying a sounder over seas. i dont know why you would bother. but yep. totally possible

Just send it back to the US when it stuffs up. No wait just go to your local dealer and expect him to sort it. And when your kids are looking for a job buy them a one way ticket to L.A.

    Re: New Sounder Options

Think ill go local, went and had a play with a few this morning, anyway i found the hummingbird a bit fiddly to navigate around, didnt mind the Lowrance Touch and they didnt have garmin. I have a Garmin touch already so dont mind those.

So basically its going to come down to which is the better sidescan etc out of those two, the Lowrance HDS series touch or Garmin.

Also i think i saw in an another thread some new integrated Garmins are likely to come out, is there any update on their release?

the new 7400xsv models are due in late feb/ early march. just in time for carnival

um... its a real nice race between lowrance/simrad and garmin. at this leg of the race the garmin chirp based clearVu system is ahead of the pack
