    Gladstone Trip

    Hi Guys,

I am looking at doing a trip to Gladstone to chase reefys, macks, trevs, barra, just about anything really.

I will be towing the little V-sea up there so will mainly be fishing from the boat.

I am looking at either April or July and was wondering what would be the better time and what species to expect.

    Thanks for your advice.

    Cheers
    Dave

    G'day mate,

    It's a 4.7m Seafarer V-sea.

A great little sea boat but i'll still probably stick within 20-30km of the coast.

    Cheers

That's big enough. April was always a good month for me when I lived there. You will be able to get a wide range on reefies within that range. There's also the option of mackerel fishing around the front of Facing island or around the channel markers out of the harbour. If it's blowy you can target the estuary species up in the estuaries.

The Boyne Tannum hookup is on in late June. Which means the reef will be hammered by all the competition boats over that weekend.

So April would be the better month. 120km Fuel range is needed to get to the closest islands. But check the maps for other shoals in closer.

Facing island will fish well for mackerel around the front.

Shout out closer to your trip for a better report.

Pats tackleworld is always a good knowledge base for the local conditions.

    Thanks for your replies guys.

I'm still hoping for April, but work may get in the way.

Will give you a shout beforehand Damo.

    Cheers
